RamaasNews had the unique opportunity to meet with and interview the London based business man, lawyer, founder and Chairman of the Anglo-Somaliland Chamber of Commerce Mr Mohamed Yusef Ali during his visit to Somaliland. Mohamed led an important business delegation to Somaliland on the 19th of June, 2011, amongst them were; Mr Alex McDonald, an eminent, famous and very resourceful corporate financier, Paul D Heber the Director of SAVOY investment Management, and an exploration geologist by the name of Robert McKenderick. The delegation met with the Somaliland President H.E. Ahmed M Siilaanyo at the president’s palace. Mohamed Yusef introduced the delegation to the president and explained the purpose of their visit.
The president explained to the delegates how Somaliland is very much open for business, and how they are ready to lift any challenges they might face. He emphasised the importance of livestock and the huge natural resource in Somaliland, which are all investment opportunities.
The delegation came away with a highly positive reaction from the meeting with the president. During their visit the delegation travelled some 2300 km around the country, they were amazed at how peaceful and prosperous the country is. In this interview, Mohamed Yusef tells us more details about the purpose of their visit to Somaliland and how much of a positive effect the visit had on the delegation.
